Committee members defend search and outline why they backed different finalists

Members repeatedly acknowledged opportunities to improve communication around the process. Vice Chair Hunter underscored that candidates were screened with anti‑bias training and community participation: "Our semifinalists were screened by a community panel and 3 school committee members," she said. Committee members also pointed to data the district faces — including MCAS results and achievement gaps — as part of the reason to settle the leadership question rather than delay.
