Commission will review rules and point system, considers hiring outside rewrite support

Under old business the commission discussed a rules review and the need to examine the point-scoring system used for candidate evaluation. Matt Mohr recalled Mr. Dreger mentioning that the commission might hire someone to rewrite the rules, as other commissions have done, and Mohr said the commission needs to "get police and fire on the same page" regarding scoring.
Commission Secretary Candice Martin was asked to invite Mr. Dreger to the next meeting to discuss proposed rule changes before he assumes a new position, and Mohr agreed to email rules-revision materials to the commission for review. No formal vote to retain outside help was taken at the Jan. 20 meeting.
