District to apply for TEA LIFT grant; Bluebonnet adoption would unlock multiyear funding

The presenter said Bluebonnet (TEA’s version of Carnegie) is approved for K–5 ELAR and for 6–8 math and algebra/geometry the Bluebonnet option is on the approved list; the district is weighing the tradeoffs because "if Cedar Hill ISD selects a non‑Bluebonnet curriculum the grant is only for one year." Trustees asked about religious texts in Bluebonnet and what measurable outcomes would be required; staff said district scope and sequence decisions would determine which texts are used and that measurable goals would be written with the TEA‑approved provider if the grant is awarded.
The board was asked only to be informed that the district is applying; staff said final curriculum adoption, timeline and budget recommendations will return to the board for approval.
