Board finds two teachers abandoned contracts; motions approved

Administration recommended a finding under Texas Education Code section 21.105 and 19 TAC 249.14 that good cause did not exist for the contract abandonment finding. Trustee Ramona Ross Bacon moved the recommendation; the motion passed with a recorded vote of 7-0.
A separate recommendation concerned George Lancelot (presented in the packet as George Lancelot/Lancealt), a math teacher who resigned via e-mail on July 30 and had not responded to outreach from HR and campus leaders; administration recommended the same statutory finding and the board approved the recommendation after a motion and second, also 7-0.
Board discussion included procedural clarifications about the nature of the vote (the motions were for findings of abandonment, not for certification revocation) and confirmation that HR had attempted to reach both employees. Administration said there were no immediate replacements for the Nickelberry position as of the meeting.
The board recorded the motions and outcomes in open session; administration will follow HR procedures for final personnel actions.
