Cedar Hill ISD honored with Commit Partnership awards; district outlines parent engagement goals

Sheila Robinson, chief regional impact officer at The Commit Partnership, presented the 2025 Catalyst Campus Award to Highlands Elementary and an Effective Governance award to the Cedar Hill ISD board, citing growth that included a campus improvement from a D to a B and, Robinson said, "nearly 40 percent" of previously underperforming students who improved in math. Robinson said the honors recognize school and board work to set clear student‑centered goals and invite community voice.
Separately, staff reviewed Longhorn U, a one‑day parent conference with 26 sessions held Nov. 1. The district reported 96 registrations and 25 attendees; staff said survey results were overwhelmingly positive with roughly 90% rating the event 'highly satisfied.' An administrator (speaker S9) said childcare and bilingual sessions were key outreach lessons and set a measurable target: increase parent participation from 25 to 50 by fall 2026.
The board did not take formal action on Longhorn U but staff said they will debrief and return with plans and metrics for future events.
