Students lead questions as Cambridge community presses finalists on inclusion and instruction

Student facilitators from CRLS — the student school committee member Eva Asroff and senior Roz Patterson — asked much of the night’s questions, framing concerns from families, staff and students about inclusion, special education, language offerings and school culture.
Candidates responded that they would elevate student voice (Sanchez proposed a superintendent student council; Garcia stressed student participation in course development; Murphy established a student food advisory council). On inclusion, candidates emphasized compliance with IEPs, co-teaching models and creating the culture needed to prevent separation of programs from school communities. Each candidate tied improvements to professional learning and data-driven practice.
