Council adopts resolutions honoring firefighter, and declaring Fire Prevention Week, Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Council adopted Resolution No. 2025-64 honoring Firefighter Michael Taylor and passed resolutions designating Oct. 5–11 as Fire Prevention Week, October 2025 as Breast Cancer Awareness Month with Oct. 17 as National Mammography Day, and October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Council read and adopted several resolutions by roll call. Mrs. Haley read Resolution No. 2025-64 honoring Firefighter Michael Taylor; Mr. Mayo moved to adopt and Mr. Albaugh seconded. The roll call vote was all ayes and Mayor Barilla declared Resolution No. 2025-64 duly adopted.
Council then read and adopted Resolution No. 2025-65 proclaiming Oct. 5–11, 2025 as Fire Prevention Week; Resolution No. 2025-66 proclaiming October 2025 as Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Oct. 17, 2025 as National Mammography Day; and Resolution No. 2025-67 recognizing October 2025 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Each resolution was read in full at the request of council members and adopted by roll call with all ayes.
Votes and actions at a glance: approval of the minutes for Sept. 30 passed on roll call (four ayes, one abstention by Mr. McManamon); a motion to excuse Council members Gorman and Hoover was carried by roll call earlier in the meeting. No funding allocations were attached to the proclamations in the meeting record.
