City Manager Jim Mavromatis updated council Sept. 9 on several public-works projects: the city pool’s upper deck was scheduled for a pour that week, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) would perform a pipe inspection, painting was planned Sept. 12–22, and the project had gone over budget because of additional items the city added. Mavromatis said the pool will be filled and tested before winter draining to ensure functionality.
Mavromatis also said a company will perform ground-penetrating testing on the tennis courts on Sept. 18 to determine the extent of soft spots, and gave a $4,800 estimate to resurface/repair a parking lot, noting staff would determine where to pull money for the work. Council members asked about mowing and weed control on Route 7 medians and winter snow removal responsibilities, which Mavromatis addressed by distinguishing city vs. state responsibilities for Route 7.
