Residents raise street repairs, manhole grades and public-safety questions during public forum

At the Aug. 12 public forum, residents and community members raised maintenance and public-safety issues for the city to address.
John Mascio reported that manholes on recently paved Sunset Blvd. are not flush with the new surface and asked Engineering Director Mike Dolak to follow up; Dolak replied that the manholes belong to AT&T and that he had been attempting to contact the company. Jacob Hyman invited meeting attendees to Strongstown's post-meeting gathering at Leonardo's. Michelle Mullins spoke and offered her opinion on the proposed Dollar General in the south end.
Separately in miscellaneous reports Councilmember Ms. Hoover asked that job postings and board rosters be updated on the city website so residents can find current information. Mr. Mayo requested a copy of the police report and a meeting with the city manager, law director and police chief regarding a shooting at Maryland Market; he said constituents want answers about case handling and possible disparities in treatment. Council agreed staff would follow up to provide requested records and meet with Mr. Mayo.
