Councilman Jim Albaugh told colleagues he had reviewed a prior marina feasibility study and relayed state figures on the economic impact of boating and fishing, arguing the city should maintain and improve launch and docking facilities to bring tournaments and visitor spending. "We have a great opportunity down there," Albaugh said, noting trucks and trailers were parked at the marina and that tournaments draw hotel stays and restaurant business.
Councilman Mayo proposed a recreation workshop so the recreation board can sit down and prioritize projects ahead of budget season; Council and the Law Director discussed notice and special-meeting requirements for the board. Separately, Mr. McManamon sun shined an ordinance authorizing the City Manager to enter into a memorandum of understanding with Unlimited Play, Inc., to plan the potential inclusive playground at Jim Wood Park, an initial planning step and not a finalized contract.
