Council received a notice to legislative authority from the Ohio Division of Liquor Control concerning a new liquor-license application for Steubenville Market Inc. at 173 North 4th St. Clerk Mrs. Haley read the notice and asked Council to indicate whether they wanted to request a hearing or otherwise respond; she said responses must be postmarked no later than 2025-09-05. "It has to be, responses must be postmarked no later than 9-5-2025," Mrs. Haley told the Council.
Members noted the address is likely in Councilman Mayo's ward and that 173 N. 4th is believed to be The Grocery Box. Ms. Hoover suggested asking whoever filed the application to come in and speak. Councilman McManamon moved to table the matter for one week so the clerk can re-read the notice and place it on next week's agenda; the motion was seconded by Mr. Walker and adopted by unanimous roll call. The clerk will list the notice on the next meeting agenda for further action or to request a hearing with the Division of Liquor Control.
