Board honors state wrestling champions; local education association announces six $250 classroom grants

Mr. Willis (S4) opened the recognitions segment by congratulating Weaver High School’s wrestling teams. The boys coach (S3) told the board, “We had a great year,” and described multiple individual state placings and that seven wrestlers from the school placed at state. Wynn Knight (S5), identified herself as the girls head coach at Weaver and listed several girls’ state placers, noting many are returning next season.
Jamie Davis (S6), president of the Calhoun County Education Association, announced the association’s annual $250 mini-grant program and named six winners across district schools, including Monique Greer (White Plains Middle School) and Lindy Mange (Mohatchee High School). Mr. Willis also introduced a new employee-of-the-year recognition to honor classified employees (parapros, custodians, nurses, bus drivers, maintenance and IT staff) and read a list of winners by school and department.
