Volunteer 'zone leaders' tell trustees they helped prevent after-school violence and ask for resources

Trustees praised the volunteers and urged district staff to share information with principals and families. Board members suggested making the movie-night gathering an annual event to build relationships and increase awareness. Zone leaders also said they provide inside-school support by helping with tasks such as printing and volunteer coordination when teachers or staff are short-handed.
The leaders asked the board for legitimacy and resources so principals and families recognize them and to expand recruitment to make the program sustainable; no formal funding request was presented at the meeting.
