Tarrant Area Food Bank praises Crowley ISD partnership; Ready to Learn markets open at two campuses

Representatives from the Tarrant Area Food Bank told trustees that Ready to Learn in-school markets are operating at Crowley Middle and H.F. Stevens, offering families a grocery-style selection and additional supportive services such as nutrition education and on-site resource navigators.
"Through those two markets, we've been able to provide 13,121 meals to over 220 families in the last two years," Viviana Mendez of the Tarrant Area Food Bank said during the student support and engagement presentation. Jared Williams added the Food Bank serves 13 counties and that partnerships with more than 13 local nonprofits helped stand up the district markets.
Staff credited a $100,000 sponsorship from the Good Good Foundation that funded market equipment and initial food purchasing, enabling the in-school markets to operate like a small grocery for families. Trustees praised the partnership and urged broader outreach so more families know about the markets and how to access services.
H.F. Stevens campus staff described the Eagle Market’s quick uptake and district staff said mobile distributions and flu clinics have been coordinated with partner networks. Trustees asked about line logistics and frequency; staff said markets are ongoing and supported by a network of community partners.
