Dell Rapids finance officer: sales tax down 1.5%, special budget workshop set for Aug. 10

The officer presented a 2027 budget timeline and scheduled a special budget workshop for Aug. 10, with further budget discussions planned at the council meetings in August and an additional special session on Aug. 24 if needed.
The finance officer also noted several budget items and community updates: the 2026 budget includes about $4,000 to paint Norby's (work planned to start June 16), the municipal pool is set to open June 1 with swim lessons available for registration on the city website, and Riverside facility bookings have been busy with graduations and meetings. Councilors acknowledged the timeline and asked staff to continue budget preparations ahead of the August workshop.
