According to the manager’s report, Visintainer has about 30 years of experience in area water and wastewater services and previously worked at the city's wastewater treatment facility before joining Iron Mountain DPW in 2012, where he advanced to Water Foreman. The hire comes after the city was unable to fill the DPW crew leader position internally and externally and includes staff review by the Personnel Committee.
Council approved the manager’s report and received it into the record; the minutes do not record separate debate or a separate roll‑call vote specifically for the hire beyond the motion to receive the manager’s report.
