Ken Wood and Jennifer Castro, members of the Citizens Advisory Committee, updated the City Council on the Kingsford Hometown Heroes Banner Program. Wood said the program had received 11 applications as of Jan. 5, 2026, and that he had attended about five community events to promote the program.
The committee noted some honorees are not Kingsford residents but have local ties through work or connection to the city. They said banner placement will start in Lodal Park and, if the program grows, could expand along Breitung Avenue to areas with walking paths for greater visibility. The council received the update and expressed appreciation for the committee’s outreach.
