Committee recommends patriotic 'Welcome to Kingsford' banner; Hometown Heroes applications low

The Citizens Advisory/Parks Decorations Committee voted to recommend the patriotic banner design BS166 reading “Welcome to Kingsford” for Carpenter Avenue. The motion, moved by Michael Stelmaszek and seconded by Trombly, passed unanimously.
Committee member Wood reported the Hometown Heroes program has received about five applications so far, two from Kingsford residents; Wood asked that the Hometown Heroes item be placed on the next city council agenda to increase publicity and attract more applicants without paid advertising. The DPW committed to installing the Hometown Heroes banners once selections are made.
