Scott Sternhagen, an auditor with CLA, presented the City of Kingsford’s FY 2024–25 audit and reported two findings: a significant deficiency tied to CLA preparing the audit report (described as unavoidable) and a single journal-entry finding that represented an improvement from prior years. "The process ran smoother and improvements had been made to processes addressing previous findings," Sternhagen told the council.
Sternhagen said CLA encountered no issues working with city staff or management and reviewed the city's financial position, concluding Kingsford is in good standing. Mayor Joe Groeneveld later thanked Sternhagen and city staff for the positive results. The council did not take formal action on the audit presentation during the meeting.
