Lighthouse Private Christian Academy asked the board for a conditional-use approval to add multiple small classroom buildings and a vocational program for grades 9–12 at a rural residential site on Dixie Road in Milton. Colin Hendrickson, representing the school, said the expansion is part of a multi-year plan and that classrooms would be small (22-by-26-foot buildings for focused, hands-on vocational training).
More than a half-dozen neighbors said the addition would increase traffic on narrow residential streets, create pickup/drop-off congestion and change neighborhood character. Janet Coulter and others said the only access is via Oak- land and that sidewalks and street capacity are insufficient for additional traffic. The board debated traffic and parking implications and whether the existing conditional-use authorization covered the proposed expansion. A motion to deny was made but failed; the matter is a recommendation and will proceed to the Board of County Commissioners on Monday, June 22 for final action. The school said it currently serves about 95 students on campus and expects modest incremental growth tied to the vocational program.
