Capital Rx: anti‑obesity agents top pharmacy spend; fuller presentation moved to July

Capital Rx presented the State of Maine’s Q1 2026 pharmacy utilization on June 18 and told the commission that plan pay for prescriptions was $22,355,382 with patient pay at $1,393,382 across 70,782 claims. By drug classification, anti‑obesity agents were the highest plan spend at $5,499,967; plan pay by class also included $986,788 for generics, $12,073,888 for brand drugs and $9,294,706 for specialty drugs. Capital Rx listed the top five drugs by plan spend as Zepbound, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Trikafta and Dupixent.
Because the commission scheduled a retreat at 9:30 a.m., Capital Rx said it would postpone the remainder of its presentation to July. Management Member Olivia Alford asked staff to include patient‑pay percentages in future reports; Capital Rx responded that those percentages will be added.
