Council members report AED installation, Splashpad construction and committee plans

Council members used the Jan. 20 meeting to report routine committee updates and community projects. Mr. Tony Egner reported an AED has been installed outside the community center and summarized the Fire Committee meeting. Mr. Edward Whitt described Recreation Committee work and said the Civil Defense and Public Safety Committee seeks to change its name to the Emergency Management Committee.
Mrs. Jean Wilson said construction on the community center Splashpad has started with expected completion by May 2026. Mrs. Patty Van Cleve listed her 2026 committee assignments—Economic Development, Building and Lands, Human Resources, Law team, and Tree Board—and promoted the Wildcat Dunk fundraiser set for Feb. 7, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the downtown firehouse to benefit Special Olympians. Mr. Samuels noted the Finance Committee will meet Jan. 27, 2026 and recapped the Police Committee meeting.
