The Office of Employee Health, Wellness, and Workers’ Compensation said MaineCare screening capacity is being examined so the office can organize supports to deploy beginning September 2026.
Commission staff also supplied communications metrics for January campaigns (for example, Cervical Health Awareness Month reached 14,382 recipients with a reported 49% open rate) and said interviews are being prepared for a vacant Benefits Specialist to assist outreach and program implementation. The report presented screening support as a coordinated effort involving plan outreach and MaineCare capacity planning rather than an immediate service change.
The presentation emphasized that increased screening rates improve early detection and downstream outcomes. Commissioners did not take a formal vote on program design at the Feb. 19 meeting; staff said they will return with implementation details as capacity assessments conclude.
