Chief Academic Officer Ms. Rowe described the district's Future Freshman Night as a family‑engagement model that connected more than 250 families to high‑school pathways, counselors and current students. The event used a 'passport to pathways' format to guide families through program stops and to collect interest forms for incoming ninth graders.
"The goal of Future Freshman Night is to provide clarity, connection, and a sense of confidence as our students begin their journey into high school," Rowe said, noting the district will expand the model to middle schools to preview academic, CTE and extracurricular pathways for current 5th graders entering 6th grade. Rowe reiterated application deadlines for specialty programs (Crowley Collegiate Academy and aviation/transportation pathways) and said counseling teams will continue individual outreach to support student course selection.
Trustees praised the event's turnout and success and asked administrators to return with specifics on expanding the program to middle schools and to report back on measures of impact.
