Crowley ISD presented the Heartbeat Award to a band director recognized for transforming a middling program into a thriving one in two school years. A student in the recognition video said the teacher "poured a lot into her students," and trustees praised the impact on campus culture and recruitment.
The district showed student video testimonials and several board members and student trustees thanked the awardee for creating opportunities and a welcoming environment. The recipient told the board she plans to remain with Crowley ISD after 27 years in the profession and expressed humility at being chosen districtwide for recognition.
Trustees and student leaders noted increased participation, improved retention of program students, and the role that strong fine arts programming plays in student engagement and school pride.
