During the meeting’s public-comment period three participants urged the board to include a licensed pastoral counselor to represent that licensure pathway. Jeff Edelstein said he is interested in serving on the board and noted he had gone through a discipline process on his engineering license; he argued that the Code of Ethics’ phrase the “highest standard” should be considered aligned with American Counseling Association (ACA) standards.
Rod Kochtitzky identified himself as a licensed pastoral counselor who has applied for a board position and said he has not yet heard back from the Governor’s office. Dennis Noonan, a former licensed pastoral counselor, also urged that the board include a licensed pastoral counselor and described the pastoral counseling round table group. The board did not take immediate action on these applications during the meeting; governance items were tabled until the complaint officer could be present.
