Board manager reports 60% unit vacancy, possible statute changes and uncertain compact enactment

At the March 23 meeting Board Manager Mike Tarr reported application and licensee totals and warned that the unit currently faces about a 60% vacancy rate. He said he is working to fill positions quickly and that there may be statute changes ahead with rulemaking expected to restart.
Tarr also discussed the status of an interstate licensing compact, telling the board there is no known enactment date yet. Board member Joanne Grant volunteered to be the Maine contact person for the Compact going forward. The board recorded the operational update and noted staffing was an immediate administrative priority.
