Board approves list of states comparable to Maine for LCPC licensure by endorsement

During the Nov. 24 meeting under the 10 M.R.S. § 8003-H endorsement chart the Counseling Professionals, Board of Licensure approved a list of states it considers comparable to Maine for Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) licensure by endorsement.
The motion, made by Holly Cavna and seconded by Ellen Grunblatt, listed the following states as comparable: AR, CA, CT, DC, DE, FL, GA, HI, IA, IN, KS, LA, MA, MC, MO, MS, MT, ND, NH, NJ, NV, NY, OK, PA, RI, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WV, and WY. The motion passed unanimously, 7–0. The board directed staff to research the remaining states on the list and return with further information at a later meeting.
The board referenced 10 M.R.S. § 8003-H during this agenda item as the statutory basis for endorsement comparability assessments. No immediate regulatory changes were enacted at this meeting; the board’s action establishes those listed states as comparable for endorsement review purposes and leaves additional states under review.
