Bill Avant presented an acquisition request for the Hawkins tract, an addition to Scottscove Wilderness State Park. He said the tract is adjacent to the park and will provide watershed protection for Lost Creek and its source areas that feed Lost Creek Falls and the Lost Creek State Natural Area.
A committee member asked whether watershed protection was the primary purpose; Avant confirmed it was. The committee moved, seconded, and approved the acquisition by voice vote.
