Regents approve academic program proposals and UCO’s PhD letter of intent

Northeastern State University proposed a 30‑credit Master of Education in Elementary Education and a Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) in School Psychology to address statewide shortages in school‑based mental health services; the submission cited 2,382 job postings from 2021–2023 and a statewide ratio of one school psychologist per 3,301 students. Southwestern submitted a program modification for its Doctor of Pharmacy program.
The board also approved UCO’s letter of intent to offer a Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Science and accepted that UCO will seek an institutional function exception under OSRHE policy. Each approval was recorded as a unanimous board vote in the minutes.
