Regents approve program changes, new program letters of intent and two special degree actions

The Board of Regents approved a comprehensive set of academic program actions across RUSO institutions and ratified two special degree decisions during its April 9 meeting.
Regent Amy Anne Ford introduced the Educational Excellence Committee items. The board approved program deletions and modifications at East Central University, Northeastern State University, Southeastern, Southwestern and the University of Central Oklahoma, and approved new certificates and majors as listed in committee materials. The board approved New Program Letters of Intent from Northeastern State University (Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Science; Master of Education in Elementary Education) and from the University of Central Oklahoma (Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences; Master of Science in Couple/Marriage and Family Therapy; Education Specialist in School and Professional Counseling).
The board also ratified an emergency approval previously granted to Southeastern Oklahoma State University to award an honorary doctorate degree to Reba McEntire and approved East Central University's request to award a posthumous Bachelor of Science in Nursing to Megan Jones under OSRHE policy allowing posthumous degrees when at least two-thirds of credits are completed. All motions were moved and seconded per the minutes and approved unanimously.
