Council presses ODOT on business access and queuing at Reading Road corridor

Multiple council members told ODOT on March 24 they were worried the road diet and medians could impede access to local businesses and increase queuing at key turns. "There’s significant queuing at southbound Clark Road to make a left hand turn into the lot of an exterminating company," Mr. Powell said, and he asked ODOT to contact the owner of the Reading Feed Mill, who he said had not been reached.
Mr. Bishop and others raised similar concerns about truck turning radii and customer parking near the Feed Mill and other businesses. ODOT responded it will supply turning templates to show whether proposed lane and median geometries allow safe maneuvers and said designers expect to adjust minor features during the next design phase, while the core road diet would remain in place.
