Mayor praises arrests, council reviews Crosden report recommendations for police

Mayor Robert “Bo” Bemmes thanked Chief of Police Brian Edens and other law enforcement partners for coordinating arrests of four people alleged to be involved in illegal drug activity at a property that has since been condemned pending improvements. The mayor said administration and police leaders are acting on recommendations from the Crosden report and working with Civil Service on changes.
Public Health & Safety Chair Shelly Kroeger presented a summary of the department’s strategic vision tied to the Crosden report that lists goals and action steps: enhanced training (including crisis intervention and de‑escalation), equipment modernization (in‑car and body‑worn cameras, intoxilyzer equipment), employee morale initiatives, strengthened accountability practices and increased community engagement. Kroeger also provided February police and January fire/EMS run counts as part of the department update.
