Committee advances sewer-rate ordinance with 8.5% annual increases; modest household impact

Assistant Public Service Director Mike Testa said sewer rates are tied to water usage and that the proposal called for an 8.5% increase per year for the planned period. He estimated the average residential sewer bill would rise by about $2.62 per month under the increase. Testa said sewer and water changes are part of previously apprised rate studies intended to ensure funds for operations, capital replacement and debt covenants.
The committee did not adopt the ordinance at this meeting; Council Member Tom Stugmyer moved it to third reading for final consideration by the full Council.
