Mayor Robin Laubaugh presented a proclamation at the Wadsworth City Council meeting on Jan. 6 honoring the Wadsworth Grizzlies for their season and off‑field achievements. The proclamation cited a perfect regular‑season record with large margins of victory, a conference title, and the team’s advance to the regional semifinal, and it formally declared Jan. 6, 2026, in recognition of the team’s accomplishments.
Coach Todd accepted the proclamation and emphasized the players’ character and schoolwork, noting the program had been named “the number one academic football team in the State of Ohio.” Four team captains — Gavin Madigan, Gabe Ludtke, Jacob Earnest and Calex Lemp — spoke briefly about their next steps, which included plans to attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, trade school, the University of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Air Force Academy. President of Council Dan Rospert and other members thanked the team for bringing the community together and recognized the coaches and athletic department for their contributions.
