Sevier County board honors students and staff, celebrates state basketball title
Summary
The board recognized staff groups and numerous student accomplishments, including Sevier County High School Girls Basketball winning the TSSAA Class 4A state championship and several students accepted to the Governor's School for the Arts.
During the April 13, 2026 meeting, Director Stephanie M. Huskey offered formal recognitions for staff and students. The board expressed appreciation for Assistant Principals, Paraprofessionals, and Student Athletic Trainers.
The board congratulated Sevier County High School students accepted to the Governor's School for the Arts: Christian Burrell, Rich Harrington, Max Marr, Erick Martinez, Kylie McClure and Tabitha White, and Seymour High School student Rayna Boling. Northview Academy Women's Chorus received a superior rating at the JB Lyle Festival and will perform at the State Choral Festival.
Athletic honors noted that Sevier County High School Girls Basketball are TSSAA Class 4A State Champions. Players named to the All-State Tournament Team included Aubree Thompson, Maggie Townsend, Hannah Madison and tournament MVP Kaliyah Burden. Gatlinburg-Pittman High School teams also advanced in state tournaments, with Maliyah Glasper named Class 2A Ms. Basketball and Jayden Barton a Class 2A Mr. Basketball finalist; Natavia Alber of Northview Academy scored her 1,000th point in a recent substate game.
The board also recognized FFA State Degree recipients (Piper Hogan, Skylar Johnson, Jada Lewis, Samantha Strickland, Grace Ward), Seymour High School Speech & Drama qualifiers (Shaylyn Ward, Lillyanna Jacklet, Payton Ham, Phoenix Blalock, Reed Saunders, Zhloe Weaver, Reagen Boggs, Corbin Quiett, Sara Vogt), Northview Academy cosmetology and skills competition placements, and Senior Beta representative Gaby Padilla.
