Rowlett City Council voted unanimously on Aug. 19 to accept a negotiated settlement with Atmos Energy under a previously negotiated rate‑review framework.
Assistant City Manager Renissa Wade told council the settlement reduced the utility's requested investment figure and that the agreement equates to roughly a $7.83 per month increase for residential customers and about $25.73 per month for commercial customers if approved with an effective date of Oct. 1, 2025. Wade said the steering committee and outside counsel had reviewed the filings and that accepting the settlement was the recommended course rather than pursuing a separate, expensive contest.
Councilmember Bowers moved to approve the resolution accepting the settlement; the motion passed unanimously.
The action obligates the city to the settlement timeline and sets the Oct. 1 effective date unless further legal or procedural steps change the schedule.
