During miscellaneous business, Mayor Bo Bemmes announced a city cleanup event for Saturday, April 25, with the service garage open 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for resident drop-off (tires accepted; electronics and hazardous materials excluded). Pool registration dates were announced for May 2, 9 and 16 from 10 a.m. to noon.
Council Member Bob Boehner warned residents that vultures have been spotted in the city and advised, "Watch your pets, especially the little ones, when you let them out." Council Member Katie Eadicicco suggested the city hold an annual shred day; Mayor Bemmes said Reading already runs two shred events when demand warrants. Mark Bishop reported the Utilities, Lands and Building Committee discussed improving the city website for resident access and a potential lighted downtown sign; next steps were to follow up in committee.
