Council voted unanimously on June 2 to award a contract to Rack and Ballauer Excavating Co., Inc. for the East Crest, West Crest and Crestmont improvements project. The ordinance (2026-17) authorizes a contract not to exceed $1,700,000; the motion to suspend the rule requiring additional readings carried on a 7-0 roll call, and final adoption also passed 7-0.
Mayor Robert “Bo” Bemmes said most work will begin early next year to avoid leaving a half-completed project over winter. The project is described by council as 50% funded with SCIP grant dollars. Council members did not debate the funding sources at length during the meeting; the ordinance passed after the motions to suspend and adopt were recorded.
