FRENSHIP ISD board approves 20262027 calendar after close survey results
Summary
After reviewing two draft calendars and survey results from just over 2,000 respondents that split about 51% to 49%, the board adopted Draft A (Wednesday start) for the 20262027 academic year based on the calendar committees recommendation.
Tiffany Taylor presented the work of the district calendar committee and recommended approval of Draft A for the 20262027 academic year. Taylor said the committee included about 40 members representing all 16 campuses and multiple district departments, and that the district ran a public survey that drew just over 2,000 responses.
"So this year we had just over 2,000 people take the survey," Taylor told trustees, and she said the results moved slightly from a prior 50/50 result to about "51% to 49%" between the two draft calendars. The primary difference was an earlier Wednesday start date in Draft A and a Monday start in Draft B; parents tended to favor Draft A while staff favored Draft B. The board voted to approve the calendar (motion by Jimmy Phillips, second by Chelsea Salazar) and the district will publish the adopted calendar as presented.
