Joshua Sopiarz, president of the Faculty Senate, reported to the Board that the Senate is seeking nominations to fill two current vacancies and will hold officer elections at its first meeting on Aug. 28, 2025. Sopiarz said he is seeking reelection as Senate president and noted the Senate has a planned retreat ahead of the academic year.
Sopiarz also flagged the third annual shared governance conference as an upcoming item of institutional interest and formally welcomed President Joyce Ester to the university. The Faculty Senate's activities were presented as an informational item; no formal Board action on these items was recorded in the meeting minutes.
