GovState trustees welcome new university president, review agenda and retreat plans

The Board of Trustees of Governors State University convened in person and by videoconference on Aug. 18, 2025, and Chair James Kvedaras confirmed a quorum at approximately 9:00 a.m. The Board approved the meeting agenda and the June 16, 2025 Committee of the Whole minutes by unanimous vote.
Chair Kvedaras opened the meeting by welcoming President Joyce Ester to her first Board meeting and said the August session traditionally serves as the Board retreat, with afternoon time set aside for board development. The meeting record notes the agenda was posted for public notice on Aug. 13, 2025, in accordance with the Illinois Open Meetings Act (5 ILCS 120/). The session adjourned at about 10:14 a.m.
