District reports: successful start of school, testing rescoring and targeted support for struggling campuses

Chief Communications Officer Leslie Raine Stanton reported on the first week: transportation operations include 118 general education routes, 73 special education routes and 60 shuttles driving roughly 15,000 miles per day; Food and Nutrition Services reported serving more than 6,000 breakfast meals and over 19,000 lunches per day with a free/reduced percentage of 37.6 percent and 362 staff in FANS with 25 vacancies. Stanton also summarized the back‑to‑school fair and community participation metrics (thousands of attendees, backpacks distributed, screenings and immunizations).
In the accountability presentation, staff described recent statewide changes to testing and accountability calculations and noted scoring anomalies that have led many districts to request rescoring. The district reported it had submitted over 4,000 tests for human rescoring where scores sat at the edge of the next performance category; staff said rescoring is free if results rise. Administrators outlined a district support plan using the Effective Schools Framework, curriculum‑actualization planning, mandated intervention time and teacher support tiers to target campuses identified for focused assistance.
