Mayor honors OCHIP branch director Emily Pickens as she departs Crestview

The mayor presented a certificate of recognition to Emily Pickens, branch director for the Okaloosa County Health Improvement Partnership (OCHIP), at the Crestview City Council meeting on May 11. The mayor praised Pickens’s work on opioid awareness seminars, the post-overdose support team and inter-city coordination on public-health efforts and housing support, and thanked her as she prepares to relocate out of state.
Emily Pickens accepted the recognition and told the council it has been "an honor, a pleasure, and a privilege" to work with Crestview. She said leaving the community has been the hardest part of her move to Colorado and thanked volunteers and colleagues for their support. The city presented a mayoral coin and a certificate that recognizes her leadership and contributions while she served as OCHIP branch director.
City officials said Pickens helped expand opioid awareness events into an annual overdose-awareness day and promoted countywide ordinances and programs including a coordinated approach to ebike rules among neighboring cities. The recognition noted her role in public-health partnerships and wished her success in her next chapter.
