GovState president reports slight enrollment dip, new hires and progress on strategic framework

President Joyce Ester (Ph.D.), speaking to the Board at the Dec. 5 special meeting, reported several administrative and planning updates. “Projected enrollment for Spring 2026 was down slightly year‑over‑year,” Ester said, noting the data as part of Enrollment Management discussion. She also announced new staff additions: Keith Brown, Director, Office of Sponsored Programs and Research, who started Nov. 17, 2025, and Joel Mota, Unit B faculty, Public Service Librarian, scheduled to start in January 2026.
Ester described continued work on GovState’s Strategic Framework: two charettes were held that outlined measures, targets and key performance indicators. She also highlighted Human Resources’ accomplishment: “GSU is celebrating another year of 100% completed performance reviews,” she said, and thanked Trustees for their participation in her investiture, noting $32,000 had been raised for that event and referencing the recent Distinguished Alumni Awards.
