12 Frenship ISD students qualify for state Visual Arts competition; three are firsts for Memorial High

Frenship ISD announced that 12 high-school art students qualified for the Visual Arts Scholastic state competition next month, a recognition that district staff said reflects both student talent and strong coordinator support.
Joey McLean, Frenship High School’s visual arts coordinator, said the campus produced nine of the state qualifiers. "We had 9 winners," McLean said during the board recognition.
Ashley Montez, Memorial High’s visual arts coordinator, noted Memorial’s three state qualifiers — the first in that campus’s history — and named Harper Bailey, Graceland Massey and Ethan Mokika (Mokika was not present). Montez highlighted the variety of media the students submitted, including drawing, painting, photography and clay, and said the selection process required students to submit research and artist statements with their pieces.
Tiffany Taylor and other board members urged families and students to take photos at the reception area and congratulated the students on this milestone for both campuses.
