Lincoln County keeps wind-turbine revenue in LGIP for access and yield

Treasurer Sherrie Huddleston reported that Lincoln County has $9,745,001.90 in wind-turbine revenue placed in a separate account and that another $2,988,843.20 is anticipated in June. She recommended keeping the wind funds in the Local Government Investment Pool (LGIP) because it provides about 3.7% interest and same-day access if the county needs the money.
Huddleston said the LGIP's liquidity and competitive yield made it an appropriate place for the restricted wind revenue while staff evaluate long-term investment strategies. Commissioners voiced support for maintaining short-term liquidity for grant-funded projects and upcoming county obligations.
