Staff said the issue became apparent while testing music playback and that the city engaged a third party in January to evaluate the system and recommend improvements. The vendor has provided documents outlining possible corrective work, and the project management team is preparing task orders to implement fixes. Staff noted the system includes a built‑in timer and scheduler to control when music or messages play, and that they hope to have the issues resolved and the system functioning more consistently in the coming months.
A board member who had noticed the music praised the ambience when it worked; staff said they are working within constraints of private property lines and sidewalk right‑of‑way when configuring the system.
