CRA outlines CDBG‑funded safety upgrades and Main Street lighting donation offer

The CRA director told the board April 27 that downtown safety and security measures are part of the CRA’s CDBG annual action plan and that staff has received one quote for cameras at Wilson Street Park while seeking additional quotes to meet procurement requirements.
Staff said it is hopeful CDBG funds will cover both Wilson Street Park and the pocket park next to the CRA building. The director also said the Main Street Association offered to purchase permanent decorative lighting for Main Street poles, a move staff said could eliminate a roughly $50,000 annual expense for seasonal decorations and storage and free those budget dollars for other decorative or beautification projects.
Board members thanked the Main Street Association and discussed potential staffing and logistical needs should the city accept and install permanent fixtures.
