CRA says Arts and Learning Center remodel delayed by termite and structural repairs; lease extended

The CRA updated the board April 27 on work at the Arts and Learning Center at 189 North Main Street, where remodel work uncovered termite damage and structural issues in beams supporting the second floor and roof.
A structural engineer evaluated the damage and staff obtained a quote for repairs. Because the damage affects the broader building, the property owner applied for a CRA grant to cover repairs; staff said work has been underway for six to eight weeks and that a lease extension was negotiated to account for lost time. The CRA director said the target opening for the facility is fall 2026.
Board members were informed that the repairs are already in progress and that staff will monitor the remodel and report back to the board as milestones are reached.
